The PING nFlight Center construction is back underway after a string of terrible weather. Just to recap the nFlight Center is designed to give you the same fitting experience that you would get if you went to the PING factory in Phoenix. The center will include two Kudu Flight scope launch monitors, nFlight fitting software, three AFS fitting carts as well as PING and Kartsten Solhiem memorobilia. On the teaching side, the center will include three teaching bays each outfitted with V1 teaching software, cameras offering live feed from three differant angles, 42″ flatscreen tvs to make viewing your swing easier. We will also have a lounge area with couches and chairs as well as another flatscreen to make your experience more comfortable. As you can imagine we are very excited about our new facility and looking forward to having you visit us for a remarkable fitting and teaching experience. This past week as been one of the most memorable of my life! I can’t explain the feeling of caddying at a major event on the Nationwide Tour. Walking down the 18th fairway with a two shot lead was unbelievable. The crowds on 18 totaled over 9,000 which is a lot for a Nationwide event in New Zealand. I applied everything I have ever been taught to keep Bobby in the moment over the last three holes. In that type of situation it is invaluable to stay in the present and commit 100% to every shot. Once that last putt fell it was a whirlwind of chaos. We were escorted all over the place for interviews and speeches.
The most memorable of them all was not only watching that winning putt fall, but taking a helicopter to one of the highest peaks in New Zealand to hit golf balls into the distance with Michael Hill the tournament chairman and owner of Michael Hill Watches and The Hills golf course where the event was played! While up there I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to film a video lesson. While it is a little short, hopefully you enjoy the view! Thanks for all of your support on the home front! Howdy! I am currently in New Zealand caddying on the Nationwide Tour for Robert Gates. We will also venture out to Melbourne, Australia next week. So far New Zealand has been everything it is hyped up to be. The views are spectacular, the food is fresh, the air is REALLY fresh, and the thrill seeking adventure is everywhere.
On our first day we took a ride up the gondola to the top of the mountain and watched several people bungy jump. Let’s just say it is not for us! While it does not look all that horrifying I would hate to spend the next couple months at the chiropractor. We also went on two luge rides. For those of you who don’t know that is like skateboarding while lying down on the side of a mountain. It was a great thrill! The main attraction here in New Zealand in jet boats. The Kiwis have engineered a boat that can go crazy fast speeds and turn on a dime. These boats can literally do a 360 degree turn in the blink of an eye. Bobby and I are contemplating about going. I am all in, he’s hesitating . Not only do they drive the boats fast, but they drive them down a shallow river basin inches away from the large rocks. Over the weekend The Massengale Golf Academy happened to stumble upon this article on Golfweek.com. It seems that the old PING Eye 2’s are conforming with the USGA’s new regulations due to a lawsuit PING brought against the USGA in the 1990s. If you currently own a set of PING Eye 2 wedges it is your lucky day. PGA Tour pros are searching high and low for them and have even started buying them up off Ebay.
