Congrats to Philip on completeling the Air Force Academy’s Basic Training this past week. Now it is time to reintroduce yourself to those golf clubs! Okay let me just start off by saying.. THIS IS AWESOME! While I felt guilty for leaving all of you in Texas for the week, I have to say this is by far the most exciting week of my life. Well one of the most exciting weeks. Here is a little play by play of each day so far..
Sunday: Bobby and I were picked up by a Lincoln Navigator and driven from San Fransisco to our Hotel. Even though we were picked up by a fancy limo service we made sure to keep our tradition of finding an IN and Out Burger joint the moment we got in the car! It was amazing of course!
Monday: We were greeted at Valet by a “Good Morning Mr. Gates here is your courtesy car for the week!” Let’s just say we appreciate Lexus being a title sponsor of the event! Bobby and I had never seen all 18 of Pebble so we were pretty excited driving up 17 mile drive. We ended up playing a practice round with Lucas Glover, David Toms, and Charles Warren. All three were awesome guys and were more than happy to show Bobby the ropes!
Tuesday: We headed out early to play a full 18 with Stewart Cink and Heath Slocum. Bobby and Stewart are pretty much the same height! Bobby maybe had half an inch on him… As I am writing this Tom Watson just walked in the door.. yeah .. pretty much wow moment there..
Wednesday: Bobby wanted to play the back nine so we waited until late afternoon to go off.. We just happened to join up with Geoff Ogilvy, Aaron Baddeley, and Adam Scott. Yes ladies.. the Adam Scott! All three were great and really fun to watch. I played crowd controller though.. We were only supposed to have two people inside the ropes during the practice round.. We had 8 :/ .. On a side note Chad Hedrick and his wife Lynsey came out to follow Bobby..It was great to have some familar faces around!
Thursday and Friday: Rounds 1 and 2 were very scary/ a blast! We started out 4 over on the front side but cruised in with even on the back to shoot 75. Not bad considering it is the US OPEN and all. Then Friday came.. Let’s just say I lost my calm cool and collected motto on those final 5 holes. Bobby played great on the front nine.. Once the back came along things got a little interesting. The rumor was out that Y.E. Yang shot 49 on this nine.. and once Bobby made 4 bogeys in a row my heart started to go into panic mode. Thankfully though we came to 18 and he hit the longest drive of the Day! Had 190 left on his approach shot.. He it to about 30 feet.. just off the green. He made us even more on edge though when his chip settled down 8ft from the cup…Ugh I couldn’t even watch! We needed that putt to make the cut. As I watched him take the putter back and through it seemed like minutes before that ball disappeared! We all yelled BIRDIE and definelty didn’t hold back our excitment!. Bobby made birdie on his last hole to make his first cut in his first MAJOR!

It’s official! We have completely moved out of our offices in the west wing of Augusta Pines and now can be located on the far left side of the driving range! PING stopped by Tuesday and we were all briefed on nFlight and all of the great things it does. Let’s just say it is unbelievable! For those of you that have called looking to set up an appointment please be patient. While all of the software is loaded and set up, we are still working out the kinks to make sure your experience is unique! All of our furniture and graphics are due by the end of this week! Thanks again to everyone involved. Feel free to wonder around the academy if you are out at Augusta Pines. We are hoping everything is ready to go soon!

TGA is one of the fastest growing junior golf organizations and a leading initiative to grow junior golf in America.
