Our Instructors


Don Massengale Sr. has a deep professional golf resume. He has played masterfully on both the PGA and the Senior PGA Tours.

While on the Senior Tour, he was the winner of the 1992 Royal Caribbean Classic and the 1990 Greater Grand Rapids Open. His PGA career includes wins at the 1972 National Club Professional Championship, the 1966 Canadian Open, the Bing Crosby Celebrity ProAm and runner-up in the 1967 PGA Championship.

Don developed his teaching techniques from the legendary Harvey Penick and has shared his unique teaching ability with golfers throughout the United States, Japan, New Zealand and Scotland.

Donnie Massengale
rounds out the Academy team with a wealth of playing experience. Donnie, while at Sam Houston State University, was a two-time All-American, three-time All-Conference player and MVP of the Men's Golf Team.

His professional career includes two wins on the Texas Tour, and a 1991 Toyota Skins Game ProAm held at PGA West. He also played on the Golden State Tour, the Jordan Tour, and he was a Ben Hogan Tour Member. He was an accomplished instructor both at Mission Hills Country Club in Palm Springs, California, and at The Mark Steinbauer Golf Training Center.

Cole Smith
a Class A PGA member, has spent the last six and a half years of his professional career at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. He worked at both The TPC at The Woodlands and The Woodlands Country Club. Cole was a 2001 and 2002 Nominee for the Eastern Chapter Teacher of the Year Award.
Cole has worked with renowned instructors such as Jim McLean, Robert Singletary and Donnie Massengale.
